Launching of the book "BEYOND THE HORIZON"

The poetry book "BEYOND THE HORIZON" was launched by YEP (Young English Poets) of Badulla Central College on 22nd May, 2009 at the school auditorium.

Prefects Day 2009

Prefects Day of Badulla Central College was celebrated on 13th, March 2009. The Chief Guests were the Minister of Harbour Development Dilan Perera, the Director of Education of Uva Province K.M.Jayasooriya.

The Special Guests were the Principal of Badulla Technical College Mr. Gamini Chandrasekara and the school's former head prefect Chamith de Arthur.
The programme started at 8.00 a.m. continued till 12.30 p.m. The programme started with the hoisting of flags. The national flag was hoisted by Hon. Dilan Perera, the Uva Provincial flag by Mr.K.M.Jayasooriya and the school flag by the school principal Mr. S.H.K. Alwis. The religious observance was done by the Vice Principal of the school Rev. Kanawaralle Hemaloka Thero. Then the school anthem was sung by the music group of the school under the guidance of Mrs. Chandani de Silva.
The Welcome speech was delivered by the techer in-charge of Prefects Mr. Dayasena Kapurusinghe. The prefects took oath under the guidance of the Deputy Principal of Junior Secondary Section of the school Mr. B.M.P.S.K Basnayaka. The head and assistant prefects were pinned by the Hon. Dilan Perera. The sectional head and vice prefects were pinned by the Director Mr. K.M. Jayasooriya and Mr. Gamini Chandrasekara. The probational prefects were pinned by Mr. Chamith de Arthur and the school principal Mr. S.H.K. Alwis.
Other prefects were pinned by their parents. A traditional dance was performed by the dance group under the guidance of teacher Mrs. Merci Fernando. A song was beautifully sung by a school prefect, Lathika Madushanka. Read more

Sports Meet 2009 Finals

The Sports Meet 2009 of Badulla Central College ended on 24th February 2009 with a grand celebration. The Chief Guests were the Deputy Minister of Education Hon. Satchidanandan and the Chief Minister of Uva Provincial Council Hon. Gamini Wijith Wijayamuni.
The Director of Education of Uva Province and principals from the nearby schools were also present in the festival. The festival started at 1.30 p.m. lasted until 6.00 p.m. All the students were caught in the sea of surprise as the positions of the legendary four houses, Mahaweil, Kelani, Nilwala and Walawe kept changing until the last moment. At the peak of sutdent's anticipation the Walawe house was announced to capture the first place preceded by Mahaweli. Achievements of Students in G.C.E A/L (2008)

Grade 13 students of Badulla Central College brought pride to the school showing good results in G.C.E A/L in 2008.

249 students faced the exam in science stream and 169 students were qualified to enter to the university. 192 students from the commerce stream faced the exam and 157 students were qualified to enter to the university. In Art stream 121 students faced the exam and out of them, 100 have passed. In maths stream, 108 students sat for the exam and 73 have passed.

P. Chaturangana Amaratilake from commerce stream has won the 3rd District rank. Mohammed Shaheer Shakoor was able to get the 1st District rank in science stream while A.S. Rangana Wijesinghe  was able to get the 2nd District rank in Maths stream.

International Junior Science and Mathematics Olympiad

A grade 6 student of B.M.M.V, Shashika Yasas Sri Dissanayaka has won a bronze medal from the International Science and Mathematics Olympiad held in Jakarta, Indonesia. 
At first a training pool was selected provincially from the Grade 5 examination results. After 3 month period of training, he won a gold medal from the National Science and Maths Olympiad Competition. Students from the science section and another 3 students from the maths section joined him for the journey.
